Christian Milau was appointed CEO of Luna Gold in August 2016. Before joining Luna Gold, Christian was the CEO of True Gold until it was acquired by Endeavour Mining for approximately $240 million in April 2016. At True Gold, Christian was integral to development of the Karma Gold Mine where, under his leadership, True Gold was able to successfully negotiate agreements with the government and community in Burkina Faso, recommence construction, complete development, and reach production, all in under 14 months. Christian is a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant with over 20 years of experience in mining and finance. In addition to his background in finance and capital markets, Christian brings important operational, government and stakeholder relations experience, including successfully negotiating various community, security, fiscal and tax agreements. Prior to True Gold, Christian held senior positions at Endeavour Mining, New Gold, BNP Paribas in London, and Deloitte. Christian is currently a director of Northern Dynasty and Plateau Uranium.
Greg Smith was the CEO of JDL Gold and was a director of Luna Gold. Prior to his role with JDL, he held the roles of CEO and founder of Anthem United, President and CEO of Esperanza Resources prior to its sale to Alamos Gold, and CFO of Minefinders Corporation prior to its sale to Pan American Silver. Previously Greg has held management positions at both Goldcorp and the mining division of KPMG LLP, and he also acted as a director of Premier Royalty prior to its sale to Sandstorm Gold. Currently Greg is a director and the Audit Committee Chair of both Chesapeake Gold and Royalty North Partners. Greg is a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant and was the recipient of the 2013 CA Early Achievement Award and the 2014 Business in Vancouver Top 40 under 40.
David Laing was appointed COO of Luna Gold in August 2016. Before joining Luna Gold, David was the COO of True Gold, which developed the Karma gold mine in Burkina Faso and was acquired by Endeavour Mining in April 2016. David is a mining engineer with over 35 years of experience in the industry. Prior to joining True Gold, David was the COO and led the origination and execution of stream financing transactions of Quintana Resources, a base metals streaming company. He was also one of the original executives of Endeavour Mining as the group grew from one mine in Burkina Faso to a 500,000 ounce gold producer in West Africa. He was an integral part of the acquisition and integration by Endeavour of three junior gold producers, the construction of a fourth operation in Cote d’Ivoire (Agbaou) and the preparation of a feasibility study for a fifth project in Burkina Faso (Houndé) that is currently under construction. Prior to these recent roles, David held senior positions in mining investment banking at Standard Bank in New York, technical consulting at MRDI in California, the Refugio project at Bema Gold Corp. and various roles at Billiton, Royal Dutch Shell’s mining business, including operations at the Toquepala copper mine in Southern Peru, feasibility study, construction and operation of the Pering lead and zinc mine in South Africa, and the feasibility, construction and operation of the Choquelimpie gold and silver mine in northern Chile. David is currently a director of Fortuna Silver and Northern Dynasty.
Peter Hardie was appointed CFO of Luna Gold in August 2016. Before joining Luna Gold, Peter was the CFO of True Gold until it was acquired by Endeavour Mining in April 2016. Peter is a Chartered Professional Accountant with 17 years of finance, accounting, business development, government negotiation, construction and operations experience. Before his time at True Gold, Peter spent 10 years at Nevsun Resources Ltd., where he progressed through various management positions and spent several years as Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. He was involved in financing, construction and mine start-up, operations, government negotiations, and led all areas of finance, including treasury systems and reporting.
Scott Heffernan was appointed Executive VP Exploration of Luna Gold in August 2016. Before joining Luna Gold, Scott was the VP Exploration of True Gold until it was acquired by Endeavour Mining in April 2016. Scott is a registered professional geologist with 20 years of hands-on exploration and management experience throughout the Americas and Africa. Prior to joining True Gold, he held the dual positions of VP Exploration for Wealth Minerals Ltd., and Exploration Manager (Argentina) of Cardero Resource Corporation. Previous to that he was with Equity Exploration Ltd., a Vancouver-based consulting and contracting firm specializing in turn-key geological project management. Scott received his B.Sc. (Geology) from the University of Alberta and completed his M.Sc. (Geological Sciences) with the Mineral Deposit Research Unit (MDRU) at the University of British Columbia.
Sebastian D’Amici was appointed Senior VP Finance of Luna Gold in August 2016. Before joining Luna Gold, Sebastian was VP Finance of True Gold until it was acquired by Endeavour Mining in April 2016. Sebastian is a Chartered Professional Accountant with 13 years of finance, investment banking, accounting and business development experience. Prior to joining True Gold, he held senior finance and accounting roles with CHC Helicopters, Clarus Securities and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Sebastian received his B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia.
Rhylin Bailie brings a diverse skill set and more than 20 years of mining experience to her position with Trek Mining. Rhylin joined Luna Gold in October 2016. From July 2011 to October 2016, Rhylin managed all aspects of investor relations for a number of resource companies including Southern Arc Minerals, Eagle Hill Exploration and Sandspring Resources. Previously Rhylin was Director of Investor Relations for NovaGold Resources from 2006 to 2011, and prior to that held various positions in the Treasury group at Placer Dome from 1995 to 2006. Rhylin is a graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Environmental Studies degree. She is a director on the National Board of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute.
Kevin Scott is a metallurgical engineer with more than 25 years of experience in the resource industry. Kevin was most recently Director, Minerals and Metals at Ausenco, and has held a variety of roles in engineering, consulting, project development and operations. Kevin has extensive study management and project experience in engineering, having worked in senior roles for Ausenco, AMEC, SNC-Lavalin and Bechtel. He has a wealth of metallurgical knowledge and project evaluation expertise, particularly from his technical consulting roles including over five years at Roscoe Postle Associates (RPA). He is a Qualified Person and has co-authored more than 12 NI 43-101 Technical Reports. Additionally, he was Senior Process Manager of the Canico Resource team that developed the Onça-Puma nickel laterite project in Para State, Brazil prior to being acquired by CVRD. He has a B.A.Sc. in Metal & Materials Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in BC and Ontario.
Cesar Torresini joined Luna Gold in January 2017 to oversee development of the Aurizona project. Cesar is a geologist with an MBA in Project Management. During his career he has worked on all aspects of project development, from exploration through construction and operations and has developed very strong regulatory and community relations skills. Cesar has overseen large exploration programs for a number of companies and was Newmont’s Brazil Country Manager for three years. He started as Project Manager for the Amapari Gold project in 2003 and was Mine General Manager from 2005 to 2011 under the ownership of Goldcorp and New Gold. From Amapari he moved on to manage the El Gigante Gold exploration project in Columbia for five years, until leaving to work as a consultant again. Cesar lives in Northern Brazil.
Kylie Dickson was the Chief Financial Officer of JDL Gold. Prior to her role with JDL she was a founding shareholder and CFO of Anthem United, and was the CFO of Esperanza Resources prior to its sale to Alamos Gold in 2013. Kylie was previously the Corporate Controller of Minefinders Corporation from 2007 until 2012, and prior to that was an Audit Manager with the mining group at KPMG LLP. Kylie is a Canadian Chartered Accountant and received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Simon Fraser University.
